Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easy minor water crossing going up Mt. Morgan Trail and down Mt Percival Trail. First brook crossing on Morse had a footbridge, second easy to cross.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One big blowdown about .7 miles up on Mt. Morgan trail, but easy to get around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: None seen on trail. Ladders and caves not recommended for dogs, but there are alternative paths that are dog-friendly.
Bugs
Bugs: Thought this would be a solo hike, but the mosquitoes were SO into having a buddy hike today. Only place they left me alone in over 5 miles was inside the caves.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: N/A

Comments
Comments: Footbridge on Morse Trail missing a slat, but it was lying on the western bank. Other than those minor issues, the trails were in amazing shape -- thanks to the Squam Lakes Association for great trail maintenance.

Super hot and humid day. If you're hiking this week, bring lots of water! I went through 3.5 liters. There are brooks with good opportunities for filtering lower down on both Mt. Morgan and Mt. Percival trails. Ladder route up Mt Morgan was straightforward and fun. The cave route after the Mt. Percival summit was damp, and I had to take off my pack to get through the tighter spaces...those with claustrophopia might want to take the cliff trail option. Trail markings on top of Percival are a little hard to follow. At the summit cairn looking south, the caves trail goes right (west), the cliff trail goes left (east).
