 | Bugs: |
black flies were BAD today, maybe the worst I've encountered - they were swarming me bad. Cover up or have bug spray if they tend to like feasting on you. On Franconia ridge from some point between Little haystack and Lincoln all the way through Lafayette especially. |

 | Comments: |
Beautiful clear weather today. Nice wind / temperature. Some mud, mostly minor - the few significant sections were all on Old Bridle and were passable with rock hopping. Black flies were the only nuisance until a kind gentleman let me use their bugspray, which did help keep them off my calves. Loads of hikers out there today on this perfect day and a decent amount of dogs - all well behaved. While there were wet areas in trail, it was mostly minor and none of the steep or challenging sections were really slippery today. Wet but with good grip, at least in my trailrunners. |
