Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks South Baldface, North Baldface, NH
Trails
Trails: Baldface Circle Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, June 21, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Full lot at 10am (about 20 cars), but there's enough room to park at least a dozen more cars on the road. I was surprised there weren't more people, given it was a beautiful Saturday. I'm guessing this trail is too far of a drive for a lot of people. If you prefer solitude, this trail would probably be ideal on a weekday.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easy, no problems.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There were a few big blowdowns, but nothing that could not be navigated over/under. Some blazes could use repainting.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Some dogs might struggle going up the steep ledges of South Baldface. Might need some help.
Bugs
Bugs: Those annoying little flies were plentiful, but didn't bother me as long as I kept moving.

Comments
Comments: Absolutely beautiful views from the miles of open ridge line on this clear day. Definitely one of my top 5 fav hikes in NH. Followed others' advice to do the loop clockwise, going up South Baldface first, and glad I did. There are a few steep spots I would much rather go up than down. But I did pass people going counter-clockwise, so I guess it's doable.
