Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Bypassed first crossing near the parking lot by walking two minutes on route 49 and then taking the herd path back to trail. Didn’t feel like carrying the boy across the large slick rocks or getting my feet soaked two minutes into hike. We forded the final crossing easily at the end of the day and were happy for the foot bath at that point. Could have rock hopped both with great care.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in excellent shape!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Good dog hike. On hot days there’s a 5+ mile dry stretch past the first crossing so carry enough water! Fin hurt her foot with two miles left today. After hobbling a bit she used all four again but was unable to clear small obstacles on her own without a boost.
Bugs
Bugs: Another day with no spray, no nets, and no bites!

Comments
Comments: Love this loop so much the fern and moss covered forest up high is so beautiful and drakes brook is so pleasant. Fun steep section going up noon. Everything was super slick from all the rain but knocked the bugs out for the day so I’ll take it. No views either but these trails are so lovely I hardly noticed:) 43&44/52 for the boy.
