Comments
Comments: Once again, I failed in my objective (been trying to see the garden in full bloom for years). But I do not consider the hike a total loss. More on that later. Although we didn't make it to the garden, There were still nice flowers on the way up (a bunch of bunch berries, as Prema says, still some white violets around). Occasional peaks at views, views of the Wildcats were great on the way down.

For some reason, I was slower than usual, no energy and charley horses when trying to get my leg up on the larger boulders on Lions Head. A nice older woman who was training for trail running gave me some good suggestions; it's 2:30, fog is rolling in, you should think about turning around. The other suggestions were on how to improve speed and stamina. A few hikers came down and said the area near Tuckerman wasn't really wasn't that much in bloom. So we went far enough up for some nice views. A couple was descending who I saw on the way up, the husband had a lot of encouraging words for me. I was disappointed, but turning around was the wise thing to do.

And I got to return the favor. I met a few folks who were uninformed and was able to help them. Some thought a loop could be made by descending a certain trail (Huntington). Not a good idea. Nice to see folks showing concern for others. Didn't get to see the Alpine Garden, but I did get to see how good folks can be. Never a bad day in the woods.
