Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: From route 110 in Stark, take Paris rd to Philips Brook rd to Sandy Brook rd. There was active logging and the road was torn up with baseball sized stones strewn about the day I went. I parked safely on the side and pedaled my bike in the last 6 miles, as it’s pretty flat.

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I only saw one very faded sign on the way to the tower saying fire tower. There was just a piece of orange flagging marking the trail off the logging roads.

Bugs
Bugs: They were bad this day. Mosquitos mostly and just some annoying non-biting flies that were abundant on the summits.

Comments
Comments: I had to bushwhack alongside the road with my bicycle as the loggers were busy taking up the whole road, and the road was so rough I would not enjoy driving it anyway. It was a nice enough bike ride though, 12 miles total. The hike was about 8 miles, mostly on dry skidder paths, some shown on Gaia, others not shown. I had to guess where the East peak was, as I’d only seen one report and there are several bumps on this mountain not named on Gaia. (3 peaks are on the 500 highest, West, Middle and South. I will probably do West later from Nash Stream.) Anyway, it was quite an adventure following a web of old overgrown paths from the east to the other peaks. When they turned off my bearing or faded out, I would bushwhack until hitting another one, or the same one maybe. I ended up on a bump between Middle and South, the woods were somewhat open up here but littered with blowdowns. I found a shed antler and got up close to a young moose who I’d been following. Signed in at Middle first, then ended up passing up over the bump again on the way to South, though I tried to skirt it. Got a little confused, but the peak soon came into view. It was pretty quick over to South, signed in, then time to leave so I followed herd paths down a drainage back toward the wide grassy logging paths that are marked on Gaia. I really enjoyed this trip, though it was a challenge to navigate and I was checking gps often, as logging paths can lead you astray. Lucky it only took about 4 hours, a pretty good pace for an 8 mile hike with half of it being bushwhacking. This was the second whack of the day after the Stratfords.
