| Comments: |
Trail up to Liberty Springs Campsite hard pack snow
Beyond Liberty Springs Campsite snow was somewhat looser
Franconia Ridge beyond Mt Liberty a bit choppy from some bare boot postholing - however generally easy to traverse
Three hikers from New Brunswick with snowshoes planned to head north on Franconia Ridge Trail to Lincoln and Lafayette so trail should be broken out.
On descent take care to take left at point where winter snowshoe bushwhack heads to Basin East parking. White blaze on tree at this point confirms that left is the Appalachian Trail (Liberty Springs)
Snowmobilers were driving responsibly where the Whitehouse Trail coincided with bike road
Many hikers on trail including group from MIT and another group hoping to hike the 48 4,000 footers this winter |
