| Comments: |
FR 25 was well packed and easy going, had microspikes on.
Lower portion of Gale River Trail had about an inch or so of fresh powder. One hiker in snow shoes ahead of us made for easy going and we kept the microspikes on for the first couple of miles and when the snow started to deeper we switch to snow shoes.
Snow got deeper higher up, maybe 8-10 inches at junction with Garfield Ridge. More snow on top, 12 or more at the junction with the Frost Trail. Frost Trail was unbroken going to Galehead Hut some drifts about 2 feet high. Frost Trail to the top of Galehead was also unbroken and had well over a foot of snow in places. It was nicely broken when we left.
Never saw another person. |
