Broke trail for the first 1.5 miles 6"-12" fresh powder. Thankfully a group camped at the base of the headwall and had broken the trail the steepest, next half mile up. last half mile of the trail to the hut is drifted deeply. got caught waist deep in a few drifts. up on top was all frozen over, sparse drifts.
Trail is broken now, snowshoes still needed. crampons for the way down.
upper half of the trail was too steep for snowshoes. |
