 | Comments: |
A beautiful day for a long loop over Mt Garfield and Galehead. Went up Mt Garfield Trail, lots of mud but nothing too serious. Saw maybe ten people, mostly right at the summit, where the views were great and the temperature fine. There was a little bit of granular snow around the trail near the summit, almost nothing on the trail itself. Snow-free otherwise, no need for traction at all. Decided to loop over to Galehead, which made it a long, but great day. Garfield Ridge Trail has some tree-fall, which might be bothersome for the thru-hikers, when they arrive! Left my pack at the Gale River Trail junction, and continued up to the Hut and the top. The Hut is closed, but water and toilets are accessible. Backtracked and then flew down Gale River, plenty of mud but perhaps a bit less than Mt Garfield Trail. The decision to loop over both mountains, of course, led to a long road walk, but all good! |
