Ideal snowshoe conditions allowed for this to be a morning hike. Wore snowshoes roundtrip. Decent snowshoe footbed on the Ammo, however a group of barebooters were getting ready to head up as I returned this morning.
Tracks on the Ammo above treeline diverge a bit as it approaches the hut.
Good coverage above the hut. I beelined on the snowfields from the hut to Monroe, avoiding that nasty little cornice on the Monroe Loop.
The sideslope on the Crawford Path wasn't too bad, as there was a footbed worn into it. A no fall zone, though, which wouldn't be appreciated by those who don't like heights/exposure. Tuckerman Crossover avoids this.
Also beelined not too far above the Davis junction to the towers, thanks to good snowfield coverage.
As previously reported, the front of the Lakes hut has drifted in. |
