Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A beautiful long haired black lab was sitting alongside the Red Trail about 3/4 of the way to summit. I figured this well behaved pup was waiting for it’s owner who assuredly was nearby in the woods, so I passed by and it paid me no real attention at all. A few hundred yards later, the pups owner came sprinting down the trail, asking if I’d seen a dog. I said yes and your pup is sitting on the trail, waiting for you, just around the bend. Evidently the pup had been spooked by something and got away. It was amazing that it just found a spot on trail and sat down to wait. A minute later, after meeting the owner, I heard a burst of cries from the dog as they were reunited. A good ending to this story for sure :-)
Bugs
Bugs: A few buzzing at times, but no deterrence needed at all.

Comments
Comments: Wow. This has been on my list for a while. What a view from this fire tower and such an easy bang for your buck type hike. Trails were gradual and in great condition. The peak identifier maps on the tower showing all the visible peaks in the four cardinal directions was a terrific bonus to this amazing loop hike. The cabin and old cellar holes with some interpretive signs were an added bonus. A+ hike with unparalleled views.
