Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of room at the 19 MBT Trailhead. I wonder why?
Surface Conditions

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Both water crossings on the Carter Dome Trail were easy rock hops.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: While lots of blowdowns already removed or trimmed back, there's still quite a few left, many of which will require significant effort to clear. I cut 3 going up to the CM Trail and one series of 4 blowdowns on the CM Trail a quarter mile north of Zeta Pass.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No pups today but normally a good trail for such after the ice melts.
Bugs
Bugs: None! The bugs are smarter than us hikers!
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing lost or found.

Comments
Comments: Up to about 3500' is typical spring conditions. Everything from dry ground to mud to standing and running water. But the day before an ice storm coated the trees in thick ice which then melted in the (slightly) above freezing temps so got soaked in tree pee, car washes, and dodged ice bombs the size of Mike Tyson's fists. So the trail is intermittently covered in ice balls and cylinders that are like slick ice ball bearings but spikes would be overkill and useless as the ice just rolls underfoot. It'll hopefully melt in a few days and fortunately isn't everywhere but does slow you down a bit along with the remnant blowdowns. No snow patches left.
