Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Butterworth: Noted new bog bridges at the start of the trail; ironically, there's one tree down immediately after the "adopt-a-trail" sign; larger step over birch higher up; rock water bars need to be raked out. East Rattlesnake: Rock water bars need to be raked out. Col: One large pine tree down; just uphill from that is an old moss-covered blowdown that I guess is staying in place. Ridge: Three blowdowns between Col Trail and West Rattlesnake; rock water bars need to be raked out. Pasture: Rock water bars have been recently cleaned. Thank you!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: They were trying to be annoying but the cool temps and wind kept them at bay.

Comments
Comments: Dang, I don't hike the Rattlesnakes often because they are too people-ey for me, and I forgot how steep this mountain is if you aren't using Old Bridle Path. There is lots of elevation gain in a small package when you combine trails.

Conditions were mainly dry with some mud here and there. The bottom of Col trail was the muckiest spot. View ledges were dry.

Nice views over the lakes today but a also a bit chilly with the wind. I wasn't surprised to not see anyone on the route I used but I was surprised to not see anyone on West Rattlesnake for all the traffic that it gets. As soon as I got back to the car the rain started. Perfect timing.
