 | Comments: |
Crawford path is still very wet with a bit of mud in places, so Gortex footwear is helpful. Even then my shoes didn’t get very wet or muddy because I could rock hop everything. There is some remnant monorail in the last mile heading up to Pierce and in the wooded col between Pierce and Eisenhower, but I never needed my microspikes. Open alpine areas are dry and free of any snow. Worst trail conditions was the section of Crawford Path around Eisenhower. I took this route on my way back from Monroe and its a bit grown in, had multiple blowdows, trees leaned over from snow, soft snow drifts (post holed) and some sections with deep standing water (rock hopped it - aided by trekking poles). It was easier going over Eisenhower on my way to Monroe than taking this section around the peak. I highly recommend trekking poles, especially for rock hopping wet or muddy sections. |
