Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easy rock hops.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I spent some time and cleared all remaining blowdowns, except for a few which are easily stepped over/under. I did remove a couple that were over 7” from the cluster near Zeacliff pond spur, and one big beech on Hale Brook that took 15 minutes. Those were the main ones causing paths.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one happy pup on Hale.
Bugs
Bugs: Not a problem. I never have much issues with bugs while I’m moving.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None, surprisingly. I usually find something.

Comments
Comments: I love Zealand on a Wednesday. The snow is 98% gone, patchy monorail only appeared in the last 0.2 up by Zealand summit. Everywhere else, it’s as good as it gets, surprisingly dry. My fifth time doing these peaks this year and it sure is faster with the road open and no snow. I started at 1:30, finished at 8:00 but spent a lot of the time sawing blowdowns and tossing aside debris that recently thawed. It was a pleasure to see the trail in great shape.
