Comments
Comments: Decided to switch it up and do a clockwise loop from the lodge. Took Hurricane Trail to Carriage Road to the summit and descended down Gorge Brook Trail. Brought spikes but didn’t need them at all. This section of Hurricane Trail is snow free and in pretty good shape. Some minor water and mud. Carriage road was fairly soggy for the start but improved quite a bit higher up. Didn’t see a spot of snow until 4000 feet and nothing significant until a few hundred yards before the intersection of Glencliff Trail. Small stretches of relatively stable snow pack were present from here until about the tree line on the approach to the summit. Then it was all snow free to the summit. Descending down Gorge Brook started with a 2-3 foot elevated monorail. Most of it can be walked around but still more annoying terrain than Carriage Road. Monorail and stretches of rotting snow were present off and on til just below 4000ft on this side. A few patches were present below that but mainly snow free back to the lodge. Great day to be out. Felt like summer out there
