Date of Hike: Tuesday, May 13, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Wow, take it slow getting up the short drive to the lot. Numerous potholes/gullies to avoid. Looks like some low clearance cars could get there. Lot about half full when leaving.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow/Ice - Postholes
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Rock hops over drainage flows
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail maintainers have done a great job keeping the trails passable. 3-4 step overs that may require a chain saw still remain, but are mostly trimmed for ease of passing. Still stuff (branches, etc.) down on the trials, some stuck in the little remaining snow pack of the monorail. Cleared some of the debris recently freed from melting snow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: None seen today, but this is a great trail for most hiking pups, Very gradual, and lots of running water near the lower elevations. Plus, the spring on the way to SK was flowing nicely, and good for drinking.
Bugs
Bugs: Buzzing not biting, yet.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Part of someone's lunch in foil ziplock; disposed of.

Comments
Comments: Beautiful day to get out in the forest. Wow, the deciduous forest was filled with spring wildflowers, especially swaths of spring beauty with incredible number of purple trillium and trout lilies dotting the forest floor. No spikes needed on these trails today. Down low water was flowing over the trail and in the drainage gullies, but was easy to avoid or rock hop through. Small patches of snow/ice before SK. Between the summits there were 3-4 10-15yd and one 40yd section of supportive monorail. Some spots were still almost 2 feet thick. Couple of spots were like walking a balance beam with spruce needles providing traction.
