Unsure of water crossing levels as I forgot to check before leaving house. Took Ethan Pond Trail to Willey Range, dry to start then wet, running water on steeps but no snow. Blowdowns start just before the ladders. Forgot how steep it is above the ladders. Windy & cool at the outlook, views nice. Snow starts while descending to Field, monorail stable unless in the sun. Can avoid it in many spots, never used spikes. Off/on snow/ice but no trouble spots, same conditions heading to Tom, once at junction snow free to Tom but several blowdowns. Talked to a few people & decided to head down as the water crossings were good & take my chances with getting a ride back to my car. Big thanks to Courtney who I met on both Willey & Tom for picking me up!!!! Beautiful windy day but only saw maybe a dozen folks out. Snowshoes are not needed; I carried spikes but never put them on. |
