We hiked this on 5/11 for Mother’s Day. The trail was in pretty good condition from the start up to the first lookout. Lots of standing and running water on the trail, but nothing excessive especially considering all the rain over the past week. The trail up higher is littered with blowdowns and rapidly deteriorating monorail. The snow is soft and unstable and we post holed several times despite being in the middle of the monorail. Lots of rime ice on the upper evergreens. A gorgeous day with clear views made for quite a rewarding vista despite very blustery conditions above treeline. No spikes needed. |
