I wasn’t sure about parking so I waved down a local and he said I’d be fine, I saw posted signs but they are for the property to the left of the road. I pulled into the trail/ class 6 road and there’s room on the right to park. |

After a 4 hour, 40 mile bike ride today I remembered I needed these peaks and they didn’t take too much effort to bag. Orr Hill trail/road was nice and dry. I missed the trail to Green, as the sign is not visible until you head in a ways. So, I decided to go for Moody first (I gave up on my first try over from Cobble Hill last year). I found an overgrown skidder path from the HOL to get through the thick logging regrowth. I got scratched up wearing shorts and not finding it at first. The woods got better after the logging regrowth, but then there are some thick patches of fir with moose herd paths to navigate that keep it interesting. Nice mossy woods, no trouble locating the jar. I took the same way back, not really staying on a bearing, just following herd paths. On the way back, took the private trail to the cabin and back real quick. About 2.5 hours total. The day was filled with pastoral scenes and rolling hills of the Connecticut River Valley. |
