 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Ravine Road is slightly bumpy with shallow ruts but there was no mud. The road should be fine for all vehicles. Parked before the fork in the road. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow/Ice - Small Patches |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Any significant crossings are spanned by bridges. There are many signs warning that the bridge over the Baker River will be closed if the water levels are high. The bridge was open today as the water level was not high even though there was a strong flow from the recent rains. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Lots of downed small trees and debris on all trails. Not difficult to get by. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Fine for dogs. One dog with a New Jersey couple was doing well. |

None |

Great to chat with CookiesonTop who posted the conditions on the Gorge Brook Trail. Also met many other hikers and two trail runners.
The Snapper Trail is free of snow and the small brooks are easy to cross.
The lower section of the Moosilauke Carriage Road has no snow. The snow becomes more prevalent above the large Alpine Zone sign. It was a bit more difficult to always find the hard track on the Moosilauke Carriage Road than the Gorge Brook Trail. I punched through several times with the deepest hole of 1.5 feet when I drifted off the track. There is water running beneath the snow in many places.
I did not wear any traction today. I would carry the microspikes just in case they are needed. I did wear gaiters, so my feet remained dry.
No views today.
