A FINE day in the forest was had. Redlined Carr Mountain Trail end to end. We had a discussion at the trailhead of what we will dub "WWR21D" (What would Rocket21 do) about traction. We opted to leave the shoes, and I reluctantly brought gaiters. I saw a report here from 2 weeks ago but the weather has been wild since then. Virtually snow free until above 3000 feet, albiet moist. Then about 3200 or so, sections of rotting rail, snow patches, mud, bare ground. Like a DVD menu, just repeats over and over again until you summit. (Did I just age myself by a DVD?). We went over to the Warren Town Point, in a move that would make Nordic_Gal blush, because it was there. Despite being the third sign in since 2017, we found an incredibly well defined herd path that led us to it. It will need a notebook as it got a little wet. We summited all three boulders to be sure we hit the high point. On the way out, again Nordic_GaL would be smiling, we hit Waternomee Falls for redlining purposes. Worth the side trip for sure. It should be noted the western section of Carr is not very well defined and very obviously far less traveled. The bottom section goes through a logging cut, maybe 5-10 years old. I did find a tick on me after this. Atleast someone wants me <3 |
