Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Holy blowdowns, Batman. Thank you to whoever was recently out with a saw. There are some monsters remaining, particularly within the last 0.3 miles before the summit. You can sometimes see where people have walked around the blowdowns and when you are wrong you get to posthole up to your hips. Good times. I don’t think that snowshoes will help, at this point, as even my 40 lb dog was postholing in this section. Once the last of the snow melts I think that this section will be much more straightforward to navigate but for now, patience is the best thing to bring along!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: My pupper likes this route but did not love the postholing (see Trail Maintenance).
Bugs
Bugs: They were buzzing but not biting.

Comments
Comments: We got an early start as it appeared there would be a small window of dry weather in the morning. It did not start raining until we were almost back to the car. It was fantastic to have a nice long chat with A-Bomb! I put on rock spikes at the bog bridges, and pulled them back off at that same point. I don’t think that snowshoes will help at this point as the majority of the remaining snow is a super-skinny not-fabulously-stable monorail, and the parts that are not this are short. Also see Trail Maintenance - snowshoes are unlikely to help with 2’+ of mushy, unpacked snow in the areas around the blowdowns. I love my snowshoes but I wouldn’t bring them on this particular trail any longer, this season.
