A fine evening hike, I had the place to myself from 5-9 pm. I only needed Lincoln for the grid, so just went out and back. Only a slight breeze at the summit so I hung out for a half hour until my hands got cold. Nice sunset. Descending was a little slippery in dull microspikes, I almost wanted longer spikes but the snowy section really isn’t that steep so I was fine with microspikes and poles. It’s a pretty clean transition from rock to snow and back to rock, so I only had to put spikes on and off one time. Really decent conditions, though the coming rain will reduce the monorail even more. I wouldn’t worry too much about post-holing since it’s not that deep, but maybe bring a couple options for traction. |
