Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Just the drainage issue between Crawford and Resolution, it’s always wet there and I end up walking on the side. It’s only a short section.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No hazards. One chased and jumped on me as I was jogging back to my bike, a typical young unleashed lab with its owner. Then another random dog showed up without a person, it was long haired, an Aussie shepherd maybe. It seemed to be looking for something, no other cars though.
Bugs
Bugs: None! Breezy today, around 50 degrees.

Comments
Comments: Mt. Crawford is totally snow free. Only a few patches around Stairs Mtn.

Working on the NH500, I set out at 11:00 to do South Hope and Mt. Hope via the Bemis ridge northbound with a bike spot on this beautiful day, and made such good time I decided to go for East Stairs too, which was surprisingly almost snow free - just a few patches around Stairs Col trail. Everything else was dry. No cliffs or anything tough bushwhacking (mostly open beech and oak woods) until the last mile to East Stairs, which was much tougher. From Stairs col I dropped down 200 feet using the trail until I could see the peak, then contoured over, to save elevation. There was bad footing and then tight woods up to the canister. 1.5 hours round trip from Davis path for that peak. The pleasant whack from the train trestle to Davis Path was 5 miles one way and took 3 hours, with lunch break. Very enjoyable. It got thicker at the end, but I came out almost right at Crawford spur junction. No jar found on South, but there is one on Hope. South Hope had the better view. I wasn’t on the blazed bootleg trail for long, lost it in the open hardwoods, and wasn’t going to follow it downhill anyway.
