Comments
Comments: I spent the night at Carter Notch Hut and got an early start this morning, hoping the snow pack would be more firm. For the most part it was, but quick to sink if you stepped off what used to be the center of the trail. The steeps going up from the Notch on Wildcat Ridge were snow covered still, some ice in spots and a few blowdowns made for some tricky maneuvers. I managed in spikes the whole way from Wildcat A to D, slowly. Blowdowns necessitated going off trail in a couple of spots, had to find my way back whilst sinking in surrounding soft snow, still up to my knee, thigh in one instance. The ski slopes mostly dirt/mud/grass, some snow patches left.
