A couple of step overs but nothing to slow you down. Within 100 yards of the intersection of the Wildcat Ridge Trail there was a mess of crud that hopefully will sort itself out when the snow releases the trees, but some cleanup is likely needed
Signage was all in proper place |

 | Comments: |
Dry summer conditions on the trail for the first 2.5-3 miles then quickly becomes wet with occasional running water. Snow/ice from 2950’ on and increasing in depth to the Wildcat Ridge intersection. Lots of snow in the woods and on the trail near the notch itself. I never post holed and Hillsounds stayed in the pack. 100 yards before the notch itself there was a couple of places where the trail disappeared due to trees bent over into a tangled mess into the snow but just follow the post holes. Once at the Wildcat junction and heading down you’re on the south side and there’s much less snow. Had lunch by the bigger lake and watched trout go for flies. Ice is out.
Very warm and good breeze bottom to top.
Heard Pine Warblers and Blue Headed Vireos but not much else except the brook.
I was glad to have my Solomon high tops for the upper part of the trail. Sandals would have been ok till Carter Dome Trail. |
