 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Only a half dozen cars or so...and the gate was open so parking in the 'summer' spots is open. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow/Ice - Postholes |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
All bridged, but there's a warning sign that the 82 Bridge will be closed during periods of extreme high water. Not the case today. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
In good shape, no complaints or obstacles. Someone had been clearing small blow-downs and branches and that was much appreciated! |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
No problems for our dog anywhere. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Lots of butterflies but not much else. Still too cold. |

Beautiful blue-bird day for this hike. My hiking buddy's second 4k. The monorail was not supportive in places, and the higher up we found spikes to be needed. There were some hikers who were bare-booting but we put ours on around 4,200'. I took mine off at the first ledge outcrops and bare-booting from there to the summit was fine--but they went on again before the descent. |
