 | Comments: |
After having attempted Cannon ten days ago, turning around at the ice flow near the top of Kinsman Ridge Trail, I went up today and it was a beautiful day. But I went up Hi-Cannon this time, which although it has long areas of weak and crumbling monorails, it is doable. I wore microspikes from about 2220ft, and back down to around the same elevation; my crampons and snowshoes went for a ride. At the top I saw a couple, and their dog, and they had gone up the ice flow on Kinsman Ridge, with their brave dog, without traction. They asked about Hi-Cannon, and I hope they went down that way. So the ice flow on Kinsman Ridge Trail is still a challenge as of today. Most people I saw were in summer-weight boots or sneakers, without any traction, and were having a challenging time. It won't last long now, but traction is still recommended! |
