Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking is a bit funky now since the gravel pit was closed to public vehicles a couple years ago. I parked in the municipal lot at the corner of Church St. and Railroad St.

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Several blowdowns are scattered along the length of Pine Mtn. Trail. The biggest is at the junction with the signed view spur (now completely overgrown) below Chapel Rock. Blazing is infrequent and faded. Rock/wooden water bars along the tractor road section of Pine Mtn. Trail and Chapel Rock Spur are filled with dirt and debris.

Comments
Comments: As noted above the parking changed a while ago. To reach the trailhead from the municipal lot I used, continue up Church St. for 0.1 mi., then turn right onto Promenade St. for 0.1 mi. to a gate for the gravel pit (the "turn around" sign here is for vehicles and foot traffic is still ok as far as I can tell). Continue into the gravel pit and turn left into the first large clearing and look for the trail on the left, 0.4 mi. from the municipal lot. As of today the trail's start was marked with pink-flagged posts leading into the woods. The former trail sign was nowhere to be found. Once on the trail the remaining turns and junctions are signed well.

This route was 99% bare and dry. There were some small muddy sections here and there. Higher up on the mountain there were some small patches of snow and ice monorail, but nothing that required traction and all of it was easily avoidable.

Million dollar views from all the outlooks today and Pinkham Ledge was pleasantly cool with the wind. I saw two other hikers between the summit and Pinkham Ledge but otherwise it was a quiet day on the mountain.
