 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Great for dogs who love water. My dog is always happy to be in Lincoln Woods and probably enjoys Owl's Head more than most. Nothing technical on this trail. |

Saw a few near Black Pond. Ugh! |

Great day to hike Owl's Head on Saturday! Barebooted until Lincoln Brook, there, spikes were very helpful. The monorail was solid, and the trail was a mix of snow, ice and mud. Like the other trail report on Sunday, my rock spikes were helpful on the section going up Brutus. It was extremely icy and the roots were slick as well. A light rain began to fall when we were on Owl's Head path, which will require snowshoes once the temps continue to warm. We carried ours but didn't need them today, but it is clearly still very deep near the summit. Was a bit of a challenge finding the summit, attempted to follow other tracks and got diverted a few times. All in all, a great day and besides the light rain near the summit, it held off! |
