Comments
Comments: A great weather day and fantastic April trail conditions for Garf today. The first four miles from the gate were summerlike dryness along the road and trail up until about the first switchback. I put on beater spikes and wore them until I returned to that point on the way down. I carried crampons which wouldn't have been overkill up high and the final ascent to and descent off the peak. Snowshoes went for a ride but may be needed later as the hardpack deteriorates. Six other hikers, only one other carrying snowshoes and one apparently void of any footwear at all. It was great to meet and chat with Jeff. If you need this one, grab it now. Snowpack/dry trail superhighway conditions.
