Comments
Comments: The evening freeze (after Saturday thaw) and still below freezing temps above 3K' made for scalable slide up Hancock in my soon-to-be rockspike Hillsound trail crampons. However, we switched to 10 point crampons for the descent of South Hancock. That north facing slide has quite a few patches of sheet ice in the upper .3 and the 1/2" of granular snow on most of the slope would have made for a heart racing descent in the microspikes. Recommend ascent up South and down from North peak if all you are carrying is microspikes.

Sunday AM Hancock notch trail in spikes, but by 1:30pm there was already an inch of mashed potatoes starting at the Cedar Brook Junction and plenty of collapsed trail over the multitude of runoff locations. The last mile to the parking lot was pretty bare though.
