 | Date of Hike: |

 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We had the only two cars at the trailhead upon arrival and departure. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Black, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable) |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Easier water crossing of the brook early on in the hike - the "most obvious" route across isn't always the best one, so just plan out the rocks and you'll be fine. Crossings higher up still had stable ice bridges at the time, no worries there. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Aside from one large blowdown ~2 miles up, and a bunch nearing the summit, it was fine. Nothing you can't straddle and climb over. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Didn't see any, but it wasn't the sort of day you'd want to take your dog. |
 | Bugs: |
None. |
 | Lost and Found: |
None. |

 | Comments: |
Brisk at the trailhead with tiny baby snowflakes here and there. The first couple of miles up was cake, and there was barely any ice/monorail to speak of. It wasn't until around three miles in that there was a dramatic increase in snow, trailhead, and wind gusts - didn't require a face gaiter but gloves were essential. Views were spectacular, as people have noted - you could see cloud cover on parts of the Whites, and clear skies for others. Cloudy for us, but not so much that we couldn't take it all in. Gusts and blowing snow were enough at the summit where we didn't stick around upon taking the usual completion pics. A fair amount of glare ice - microspikes a must, though snowshoes would probably have been overkill. On the descent, that last couple of miles was sunny and absolutely gorgeous. |
