Trail was hard packed with a couple inches of fresh snow. We bare booted until the steep section and put on our snowshoes to take advantage of the heel lifts and traction. Only sign of anybody else on the trail were footprints of an animal until we got to treeline. We stopped in the dungeon, ate lunch and put on our face protection, goggles, and extra layer. Twas windy climbing to the summit. We encountered ice, and wind blown snow drifts, snowshoes were helpful and necessary. The climbed down was great. We took out our sleds for parts of the steep sections. Oh and I would recommend using a sled as.oppose to just your butt...the icy trail shredded my two layers. |
