Comments
Comments: Starting mid to late afternoon, the Pine Bend Brook Trail was somewhat soft spring snow up to the wilderness boundary/gully. Wore snowshoes to keep the footbed in decent shape. Spring snow was setting up tonight on the return trip.

Frozen granular base under a trace of new snow from the gully up to Scaur Ridge Trail. Looks like some barebooters had issues earlier. Tubbs Flex Alps snowshoes provided enough traction, uphill and downhill. A few small patches of blue ice lurking underneath.

Drifting near Scaur Ridge Trail junction. No fresh tracks on that trail, but footbed visible.

From there up, trace to an inch of powder on top of frozen granular base with some blue ice patches. Flex Alps provided adequate traction uphill and down. Fresh boot tracks coming up from North Slide.

Decent amount of drifting in places on the ridge. Trail is a little bit trashed heading up Middle from barebooting - my snowshoes beat it down a little, but it's still subpar. Fresh boot tracks headed down Sabbaday Brook Trail.

Was hoping for a sunset on Middle Tripyramid, but snow flurries moved in and blocked the horizon.

First mile or two of the trail isn't exactly peaceful right now - active logging operation easily heard and seen. Kanc7 logging project seems a bit excessive in my opinion.
