Comments
Comments: The North Twin Trail is in very nice shape with a dusting of snow. Once across the river there were a couple of inches of new, so I switched to snow shoes. I stayed in snowshoes until Gale River Road. As expected, there is drifting before the N Twin summit and on the way to South Twin. There was plenty of snow between South Twin and the Hut and my hiking partners took advantage of it. Frost Trail is well broke out and easy to follow. There was a big flock of noisy White-Winged Crossbills at the hut. I had the wrong camera for their show. Garfield Ridge and upper 2/3 of Gale River Trail were in good shape but the bottom was very icy. It was soft because of the days temps but would be annoying if rock hard.

Gale River Road and Beaver Brook were as much dirt as ice. The normal Forest Service signs are not there and I had to rely on my feeble memory to follow the right path. A kind person had the first couple of turns marked with stick arrows. Thanks to Trish and Alex for another great day out.
