Nice packed snowy trail after the icy lower 3/4 mi. or so, and the ice bulges near the Watson Path jct. Never put my crampons on, microspikes were just fine. The other 4 I saw above treeline did use crampons. No sign of the moose of the hut. Good footing up Madison, where winds weren't much over 15 mph. Took Gulfside to Thunderstorm Jct. and climbed Adams from there because the track on Gulfside was so darn good.
Winds were on the rise later on, getting around 30mph, minor ground blizzards but warm temps, mid 20's F on the ridge. Back the same way, 5 1/2 hrs. roundtrip. |
