Comments
Comments: Lower portions of Mt. Kinsman trail from parking lot up to Bald Knob spur are very icy. Above the spur, packed snow with some occasional ice bulges. Traction is essential on this hike. Saw some people wearing Microspikes, but I took off my Microspikes 1/4 mile into the hike and wore Hillsound Trail Crampon Pros for the rest of the day. My hiking partner switched to full crampons after wearing Hillsound Trail Crampons (not the pro version) for the first part of the hike. In my opinion, Microspikes barely did the job on this trail, although mine are 3 years old and probably a bit dull. Wearing something more aggressive highly recommended.

Didn't need snowshoes, just a little bit of drifting nearing South Kinsman.
