A beautiful day. Trail was perfect to Lake Hut! No real trail towards the top of Monroe. Wind was incredible. Tried to bushwack across from Monroe to Washingtons summit with a direct route. All was good till just below summit on that west side. Wind at 70mph were far to strong to feel safe heading straight up. Went around towards Tuckermans Ravine trail to make the summit out of the wind. It was a nice walk over there. Summit was beautiful at 2* and those 70mph winds. Spent about an hour taking photos, seeing the ocean and watching lenticular clouds form. Made my own way down the summit to ammonosic trail just below the hut following the fall line of the summit. The round trip hike with both mountains took 6-1/2 hrs. Met Lucky Laura on Monroe. What a woman :) |
