 | Comments: |
Trails were in terrific condition for microspikes only. The snow was firm from the low nighttime temps. We used microspikes for the entire hike and stayed on top of the snow, even off trail. There are lots of icy areas, but you could go around if needed. One of us continued to Whiteface from Piper, while the other descended on Piper Mtn. The ledgy area on Whiteface-Piper was a mix of dry and snow covered rock...easy to descend. Piper Mtn. Trail had some steep icy areas, but currently easy to avoid with the hard packed snow. |
