 | Comments: |
Crawford to Pierce was in great shape but soft in the morning on the way up. It was a post hole mine field on the way down. more than 15 hikers without snow shoes hiking a trail after 48 hours above freezing temps, how could they have expected aything but soft trails and not bring snow shoes. Between Pierce and Eisenhower the trail was very soft, sinking in 4-12" with snow shoes. Discovered 2 spruce traps on the way over and one more on the way back. many rocky areas had 6" of slush. Total of two hikers made it all the way to eisenhower in snowshoes today. Conditions will change with the colder weather and freeze into ice and firmer trails but watch your step around all the post holes. |
