I went for my weekly Prospect hike and got overwhelmed by a whole crowd of trail runners - not 1 of them wearing snowshoes! I was so mad I took mine off and started chomping around in the postholes they left behind. I mean, the nerve of these people, just leaving marks everywhere in the soft snow that was so squishy after the last two days...felt guilty and put the snowshoes back on at the junction with the old trail. Started up the new trail but it wasn't packed out, so it was following in the footsteps of those hooligans for me I guess...postholes everywhere, the trail was pretty much trashed and it won't recover until May. Going to have to find a new locale for my Wednesday evening stroll. |
