All Falling Waters crossing were covered and easy to cross |

There should be an additional cairn on the initial descent from Lafayette. It’s easy to lose the trail and get off course. |

Too much snow and ice for most dogs. |

Red rubber microspike was left at the start. |

 | Comments: |
Falling Waters Trail was well packed and made the ascent easier with snowshoes. There were some snow clear rocky spots on the Franconia Ridge Trail but we kept our snowshoes on which were needed for the ascent up Lafayette. It didn’t make sense to switch out and then switch again. Wind was much less than the forecast. The descent from Lafayette had much deeper and looser snow with many post holes. The initial descent is not very well marked so take care to stay on the trail. Based on snow conditions, we were glad that we went up Falling Waters and down Bridle Path. A good day on the mountain! |
