Trail is well packed till Champney Falls. The next 2 miles are ridden with lot of moderate posthole and some exceptionally deep ones. Snowshoes are still likely the traction of choice as there were many soft snow spots but walking with snowshoes among the postholes can also be not fun! Above tree line, the trail has much harder snow because of the winds towards middle sister and gps was useful for finding the trails. Chocorua is well traveled so route finding wasn’t an issue. I switched from snowshoes to microspikes before the rocky section above tree line. Probably a good choice as the last small scramble would have been difficult with snowshoes on.
