Solo hike up Plymouth via Sutherland Trail. Trail surface was soft, loose, and was not well packed but significantly postholed in deep snow from the Fauver Link parking lot to Pikes Peek. From there to summit, the trail hadn't been travelled since the last big storm and I had to put some effort into it. Reached the summit and also hiked down to the "Newfound View" (East Cliff), losing the trail in a couple places. Plymouth Mtn Trail was untracked. Snowshoes all the way. Had gone partway up the previous weekend in the high winds & cold but turned around because I'd forgotten my face mask. Was happy to see that the mountain was still there when I returned. You never know, especially these days. |
