Comments
Comments: Wore snow shoes the whole hike. Before the split trail was packed down into a super highway. I have no doubt you could easily bareboot or use spikes to the summit of jackson.Took the mid-trail split heading towards Mt. Jackson. Was deceptively broken out about 5-10 yards from the split. From there I was breaking out snow about knee to waist height. Had a very difficult time climbing up the hill climbing out of the initial gully where the branch starts. This hill would probably be climbed easier in spikes. Spent about 1.25 hours trying to trudge through the unbroken snow.I would estimate I made it about 1/4 mile before I turned around, I fell down into the snow so many times I was soaked through and didn't think I could make it at this point. Posting in the hopes that someone in better shape than me might want to finish the job. Also, from talking to Jackson hikers, the Webster Cliff trail from Jackson to webster was also deceptively broken out for a very short distance, maybe 100 yards, but the trail is not broken out past that.
