After finding the Reed Road Trail parking area to be unplowed and inaccessible, I came here to see if this trailhead was any better. Unfortunately, it wasn't - the East Gilford Trail parking area on Wood Rd. is also unplowed and inaccessible. And just like Reed Road, there's nowhere else nearby to legally park.
It's a shame, since the inaccessibility of these trailheads cuts off the major access points to the central Belknap Range, i.e. Round Pond and Mts. Klem and Mack. It also puts more pressure on the Alton Mountain Rd. trailhead (I wasn't able to check if that one had been plowed). Hopefully something can be done to get these trailhead parking areas plowed. |
