Spotted a car at Wapack north as the plan was to traverse Pack to N Pack. Decided to take Marion Davis up because we both donned snowshoes from the jump, and weren’t sure how they’d be on the Wapack Trail ledges.
Boy oh boy…Marion Davis is in ROUGH shape. The trail has been obliterated by folks barebooting. I’m talking knee-deep postholes in the middle of the trail bed everywhere. The two of us did what we could (lol) to repair the track, but as we went up, we passed 8 folks coming down, all in spikes.
Unless the trail gets a ton of snowshoe love before the upcoming thaw/freeze, it’s going to be downright dangerous after everything refreezes. |
